The one at the link is probably a bit too brutal unless you're players are all about each of them having a stable of characters in hand and ready to play. However, it did get <a href="http://revolution21days.blogspot.com/2010/02/doom-tea-parties-death.html" rel="nofollow">very fun reactions</a> from my players.<br /><br />So yes, I absolutely think you're barking up the right tree here. Just feel free to fiddle with your table until it fits your style properly.
