BALOR

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF Balor! Here are some concept drawings I did firstly. Pit fiends are pretty damn similar to balor, excepting the signature weapons of the balor, they are both big winging lizardy/gargoyle things.
I wanted this balor to have a regal look of utter rage and contempt, but it came out a lot more bestial and ... sleazy? Still looks like its wearing the big hat in the family, and that's the main thing.
Was gonna give him a crown, but couldn't get it to look not like a party hat. Hellboy has given me a vast appreciation for the medieval illustrative (actually or not) habit of putting crown on every god damn thing.
I did not bother taken a close up photo of it but just so you know I decided to give the balor a cunt as a change from monster cock.
His cunt is a subtle but malign thing, like a glacier of petrol and fish hooks.

MARILITH

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF She has weapons and a snake tail! and shes in charge of stratagem for the tanarri.
Which must be a rich and a fulfilling job.
Points of interested?
The fabric I used with the light and camera kinda went mildly luminous.
One of the weapons is a mummified pterodactyl head on a stick
Um. Snake body. Hisss. Snake.

I worked in a fair ground setting up a stall, and got paid fuck all. Carnys are bullshit.
Commission me to make you one of these anyone? I need money bad.

I Digress

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF SO  while I'm waiting on the glue to dry on the marilith's fiddly weapons and armor (6 damn arms),
its been feeling a tad quiet here, so though I would just do a little bit of a nostalgia trip and put some photos up of other projects.
These are from my happy grey days in dunedin , where i had a massive spooky basement to myself.
It was awesome, with crazy bandaged pipes, a nightmare fuse box, a disused furnace like something out of se7en, a dirt room (it had a dirt floor and  vault door) and was pretty much a wonder land for a depressed dirty industrial art bum as I was at the time
Occasionally it would start feeling all ghosty and I would have to dance around naked in the darkest spookiest areas of it in a  paranormal pissing contest, and I shudder to think how much dust coated my lungs on a daily basis.     Don't have good photos of the basement, but here's some stills from a performance me and some friends did there
it was called opRAAA, and it was my take on doing a opera.
Here's one of the instruments i built for it:
this was the the dropaphone, you pressed a lever , it lifted up a chunk of metal and dropped it on the concrete. Other members of the orchestra included heat sync combs , a washing machine with bass strings on it, and chucking bottles into a flooded elevator shaft. Yes the basement had a flooded elevator shaft. The taunt cables inside it sounded amazing.

Here's the style of creatures I made around then:

and some painting type situation ;
and some "hey I make all this stuff and I can't get anyone to take it home, I'll just dump it in public" projects. Can't get the photos off the c.d of the giant butterflies I made and wired to fire escapes, so just this wolf thing for now. The head was one of the masks from opRAAA

I'm still doing this junk assemblage/kludge totem stuff, I got a new studio so my progress on the manual suffers from minor encumbrance penaltys. I do less animal type stuff and chase a "idiot robot savant making religious icon" angle these days
savant is a word I am enjoying muchly right now. Among its more familiar meanings, a savant is also a custom made large pocket for disappearing things by stage magicians .
Marilith up tommorrow most likely. weeeeeeee

NALFESHNEE BUT LIKE BETTER.

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF I took those photos better.

There I took the photos better. I am unemployed again. Its at that great stage of "hooray I don't have to smell that kitchen ever again" and not yet at that "ah fuck how am I gonna pay rent?" stage.
I'm moving some stuff into my new studio which I now pay rent for on tuesday. So bad  timing.
My plan is to start selling t shirts again in the high traffic alley way outside my studio.
I also do paintings and screen-printings on t-shirts
here is some example there-of;

The studio will be for more of this as well as the totem-y junk assemblage kludgerism that I like to make and pat myself on the back and feel all like artistic and shit. Might put some photos of that up sometime.
At the moment my favorite thing to do is to make lots of these, and the pile them up in the shed, and let them remain unseen except by red backs, who happily move right in. Art and poison. Winning combination.
Also tarps. They love tarps. Leave a tarp outside for a length of time and always seems to have a red back living on it.
